Welcome to my website

What's Up?

Thanks for dropping by my web site.  I'm an alto, tenor, soprano saxophonist living in Oakland, CA.

I know some of you have been waiting for NEW TRANSCRIPTIONS, and I'm working on those whenever I have spare time.  There are now some new ones posted. You can view and download them by selecting NEW in 2007 from the dropdown menu on the page.

Take a look around. You'll find old and new photos, MP3's of me performing, as well as patterns and solo transcriptions to practice. My bio, performance schedule, and links to my favorite websites are all here.

Enjoy!

Here's a series of exercises I've written to help you develop technique for playing bebop based lines. I've written the exercises to cover the full range of the saxophone. If you're playing another instrument (Trumpet, Flute, etc), make adjustments by playing within the range of your instrument. This is a work in progress so check back for updates periodically. Keep practicing!!!

  • Here's the 1st PDF file in a series designed to help the student of jazz develop his/her bebop language. Each file will deal with a different chord type. The purpose of this is to help one develop a way to create their own lines and licks based on shapes and harmonies used by many of the great jazz improvisors. Enjoy!!!
